Violation of Citizenship Rights
Un-Islamic Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi

TEHRAN, June 26-

-Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi said violation of citizenship rights under the name of social security is un-Islamic.

Speaking at the Judiciary and Citizenship Rights Conference on Tuesday, Ayatollah Shahroudi added that citizenship rights is a new phrase in legal literature, ILNA reported.

“Citizenship rights have different social, cultural and economic connotations, hence the judiciary is not the only source to observe them,“ he said.
He noted that the legal definition of citizenship rights is rights of citizens that interact with each other.
The judiciary chief stressed that social management should be undertaken in a way that violation of people’s rights is avoided.
“Legal systems that respect both citizen’s rights and the government’s rights are more successful,“ he said.
Shahroudi noted that at times security and military issues violate citizenship rights and this should be avoided. “Nowadays human rights are violated under the pretext of fighting terrorism and securing world stability,“ he said.
